About Amsterdam, Netherlands
Amsterdam is the capital of the
Netherlands and its most populated city. It's located in the North Holland
province in the west of the country. The city's name literally translates
to "The Dam on the River Amstel".
Amsterdam is known for its canals
and dikes, which have formed a unique urban landscape since the 17th
century. The city's canals are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and have
earned it the nickname "Venice of the North". Amsterdam is also
famous for its rich history, vibrant culture, and inclusiveness.
Amsterdam is the capital of the
Netherlands, but the Dutch government is located in The Hague. The royal
family only occasionally stays at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, which is
located on the Dam square. Amsterdam's old town has narrow, busy streets
that reflect the city's intimate character.
